Awakening Isis Festival
2005
Awakening Isis is a
Pagan camping festival held at Ontario's
Whispering Pines campground over the Canada Day
weekend annually. CMS has attended every single
one thus far and in force. CMS has also rendered
its services as volunteers for various duties,
lecturers for interesting workshops, and the tough
and sometimes tedious job of security (even
overnight). We have been proud to help and
grateful for such an opportunity to share in the
development and growth of this wonderful festival.
The crabapple tree area near the ritual space...
well... has become quite energetically ours for
this festival. Weehee!

Below are some of the
photos from the festival all courtesy of
Airea and
her camera. The scenery was lovely... and she
caught some of CMS folks unawares... but those are
reserved for the students pages. :)
The first 5 pictures are of the beachside ritual
space for the Medicine Wheel as this year's theme
was Native American Spirituality. The ritual was
co-led by the festival's leader, Anne, and one of
the visiting Native elders. The 4 points on the
medicine wheel of stones represent the 4 peoples
of the world (white: Caucasian / yellow: Asian /
black: African / red: Native Indian). The horse in
the other photos is Cinnamon and belongs to the
owners of the grounds. He is so very photogenic!
And the last picture was an attempt at
photographing someone twirling these balls of fire
on the ends of chains... quite spectacular. Airea
has great video clips of these somewhere on her
online journal where you can also hear the
incredible drumming that was going on near the
main firepit that was out of sight.
