Northern Cougars

Who We Are:
Northern Cougars is one of the chartered Canadian Clans of the Black Forest Tradition. It was formed in 2003 and earned its charter in 2005. We train clergy who will serve their coven, clan and the community at large. Black Forest was founded by Silver Ravenwolf in 1990. It is a Euro-Celtic traditional coven which combines Gardnerian Wicca, British Traditional, Caledonii, Druidism and Celtic Shamanism. The clergy seminary program in the Black Forest Tradition is a three degree system like the Gardnerian system from which it claims lineage.

What We Do:
Black Forest is a clergy training organization. As clergy, Northern Cougars offers the design and performance of rituals to celebrate rites of passage: Wiccaning/baby-blessing, puberty/entry into adulthood, handfasting, eldering/croning and crossing over. It also offers assistance with workshops and seminars, guest lectures and discussion groups, as well as the performance of house/business/personal cleansings and blessings. Although Northern Cougars practices a Celtic tradition of Paganism, we will readily custom design a ritual to suit your personal preferences and celebratory practice.

How We Function:
Membership in Northern Cougars is through application and invitation only. As our focus is clergy training, we do not train individuals new to the craft. We only consider candidates who already have a strong background in Wicca and Paganism and who demonstrate leadership potential, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. The clergy training process is a commitment of four intensive years. Northern Cougars meets twice a month for lessons, readings and practices both private and public. We are dedicated to serving our community.
