The Nations Divide
AvRen Championship Tea Room (Neutral Zone)
As one of the main hosts of the AvRen, ScarletCougar started up a thread called the Tea Room. It was to hold all the chatter and commentary about the championships. It was to be a way to keep these things out of the actual war/championship threads. Here people could comment on how someone or a team is doing, give feedback, taunt the other nations, or simple sit back with a tea of their choice and watch the goings on. It was not meant to be a completely social chatter room. Chatter had to be on topic, related to the AvRen. As everyone chose their characters and how they wanted to be in the AvRen, it became a place to roleplay interactions and to enjoy the AvRen.
Four Nations
Each of the Four Nation engaged in recruiting, assigning teams and ranks, choosing characters, and setting down laws for their nation.
AIR NOMADS
At first, ETP was able to organize everyone into ranks. However things quickly fell apart for the Air Nomads. They are not militarily minded people. The still planned to rise up to the challenge of the battles, but did not seem as interested in a war. Air Nomads did make excellent first spy efforts into other nations before they ran out of steam and dropped out of the Championships for almost a month. David TLCB, picked them up and they were again in the action to surprise everyone! Air Nomads were expected to post the Air Nomad symbol in the av/sig for the duration of the AvRen to show their support. They did not seem to have any other rules to be a member. This is expected from the very laid back and relaxed monks and nomads of air. Despite the short lapse, they made quite the comeback in the end and pulled up into third place. No one remotely expected that. Everyone expected that they would stay out of the battles and watch from the sidelines.
FIRE NATION
Fire Nation was stricter than most other nations, typical of their very traditional nature, and very encouraging and patriotic.
§ Fire Lord Gotag is the ultimate ruler. He dictates all that we do.
§ All members of the Fire Nation must have the symbol of the Fire Nation somewhere in their sig.
§ Honor is the Law.
§ Master discipline and self-control.
§ Power comes from the breath, not the muscles.
§ Fire Sages advise the Fire Lord... but are dedicated to the Avatar.
§ Honor and loyalty to: self, family, and nation.
§ Duty and family should fill your heart and soul.
§ Never refuse to fight. Fight with courage, honor and respect.
§ Respect those above AND below you.
§ All members must treat each other AS WELL AS members of other nations with honor and respect. This means do NOT post/spam in the other nations thread. PM them or their leaders before posting anything, or PM your leaders to address certain issues or concerns.
§ We are the sons and daughters of fire.
§ Fire is the element of ACTION. Think before you act... then ACT!
§ Register your personal self in the Soldier Profiles thread and post a request for a rank in the Fire Nation Army/Soldier Ranks thread.
The Fire Nation was by far the most active nation in the AvRen. Conzu recruited new members daily. ScarletCougar assigned missions to the soldiers. The missions were challenging research missions that helped create informative threads about the Fire nation in the Four Nations Research board (now University of Ba Sing Se Board). Fire Nation members sought information on the Fire Nation avatar, Roku. They created a list with short biographies of all the known Fire Nation characters of ATLA. They described the Fire Nation engineering feats. They formulated an accurate timeline for the Fire Nation history. They even listed the animals known to be part of the Fire Nation flora and fauna. Their patriotism was fierce! Their loyalty was unshakable. They were a proud honorable people. Their energy and fire, their passion and enthusiasm carried through to the end of the AvRen and into first place.
EARTH KINGDOM
In the beginning, the Earth Kingdom worked hard at recruiting and engaging in practice bending as well as personal politics and economy. They were very active academically as they set up several threads in the Four Nations (University of Ba Sing Se) board and even worked out a monetary exchange system online for their members. They really embodied the Merchant and educated classes of the Earth Kingdom, the true spirit of Ba Sing Se.
It is unfortunate that the main driving forces behind the Earth Kingdom, scooz and xxearthgrlxx, had to be absent for various real life reasons away from the forum. Much of the enthusiasm fell apart for the Earth Kingdom till almost the end of the AvRen when two new young members picked up the slack and tried their very best to hold things together. Great thanks go out to Master Tevetoglu and Nüncle Zero for their valiant efforts. It is unfortunate that the loss of their queen for a couple months cost the Earth Kingdom so much. It was not enough to recover from and they came in last in the Championships.
WATER TRIBES
The Water Tribes were the second most active nation throughout the AvRen with pro-active recruiting, propaganda and interactive participation within their national sub-board. They too had a set of laws. The Fire nation spies did much copying of the superior group organization of the Water Tribes.
· Respect AvatarGate and Travahar
· If you want to join the Water Tribe, go to the "Water Tribe!"- roster thread.
· If you join the Water Tribe, you should let the other forum members know this by going to the Water Tribe Insignia-thread. In there you'll find many water tribe banners. Choose at least one and add it to your sig (or feel free to create your own one).
· Water tribers always respect each other and the other nations. Once you have become a water triber, you do not post in there boards. If you happen to be spying for fun on them (which is allowed) and you encounter a post that urges you to reply, do it by pm (or notify your leaders, we'll take care of it).
· Respecting them also means that we don't make art that might hurt people's feelings ... remember that we're doing this for fun and that it isn't a real war. Making a sig saying: "All nations except the Water Tribe are dumb" is strictly discouraged by your leaders. Less extreme versions should be kept within the Water Tribe sub-board only and preferably not placed in sigs.
· The only place you're allowed to make fun of the other nations and chatter on the ongoing contests is in the "AvRen Championship Tea Room"-thread.
· Post at least once a week in the "Somewhere in the middle of the ocean..."-thread. If we want to stand a chance in the rpg, our writing skills should be perfected. We don't ask much ... ten lines involving your character is enough.
· Keep the threads as clean as possible. If you want to joke around and go off-topic, you can do it in the "Bar: Cactus Juice" thread. If you go off-topic anywhere else AvatarGate and I will have you swim ten laps around the globe.
· EVERYONE must participate in the RP: "Unwanted visitors on the Water Tribe's shores".
· World Water Day occurs each year on March 22. On that day Water Tribers are only allowed to drink water.
Their family values and tight support of each other made them the fiercest challengers for the Fire Nation. Their popularity was high and their writing and roleplaying (RP) skills were excellent. Their courage never waned. However, they still came in second place.
